Hi Everybody,
Just thought I'd Introduce myself. I've registered on here because my girlfriend is sick of hearing me talk about which keyboard I should get next. I've been a pro keyboard player in a duo for 20 years and play a Technics KN5000 which is on it's last legs and a Korg PA1X which although sounds great through it's own speakers sounds very dull through my PA compared to the KN5000 and is quite difficult to use on stage when going from song play to style play. I have narrowed it down to a Tyros2 ( Surprise Surprise ) or Roland E80 can anyone help me and let me know there thoughts on the sound quality of these 2 through speakers and ease of use.

John

good luck

Thanks. I'll have a look around. I think the E-80 as it's cheaper but it's also very heavy.

You also might like a Ketron SD-5 or SD-1.

I know this will likely kick off a pissing contest, but the Tyros2 will be hard to beat. It's a great keyboard, lots of neat features, and there are more 3rd party style files available for Yamaha than all the other manufacturers combined.

Good Luck on whatever you decide upon,

Gary

I agree with Gary...get a Tyros2.

The E-80, whilst very well made and full of great sounds and styles, doesn't have the equivalent of Yamaha's Super Articulated voices or Mega voices.

Lots of forums supporting the Yamaha as well...PSR Tutorial, for example...a heap of extra styles plus all kinds of tips and tricks.

The E-80 would be my second choice.

Welcome John,

Guess the first question is, how much do you want to spend?

When I bought my Tyros 2 it was $3498.00 + Spkrs, and foot pedals.
Now on Ebay I see them for $2400.00 to $2600.00. w/out spkrs and pedals.

Korg Pa800: New $2699.00 at online retailers.
On Ebay they are selling for abt $2150.00 or so.

Yamaha S900
New $1599.00
On Ebay $1300.00 $1399.00

Ketron SD5
New: $2316.00
Didn't see any used.

Hope this helps.

Bill, I would kill for a Wersi EX-1 but, how about $8500.00 with out extras?

Don P
