I've sent my copies of the WK8 playing the three piano midi files to Simon. I'll leave it up to him if he wants to post samples from an older keyboard or not.

I've thought about his proposal to try some different instruments and I'm all for it. Seems like a good way for me to get to hear some of the other boards that I wouldn't normally (we finally got the Genesys here in Minneapolis)(played around with it for about two hours last Sunday afternoon)(more on that later).

I hope you include electric guitars in your samples. For me, the WK8 has some nice sounding electric guitars (it has a couple of 'so-so' ones too but that's okay, it more than makes up for it). Anyway, a new board is going to have to do a better job than mine for me to trade up.

So, I spent some time last night recording the first 20 to 30 seconds of various songs and compiled them into one mp3 that I would like you to hear. Most of the sequences were made for the WK8 in particular but remember when I load the song, I load the sound. I can easily copy that sound into a style and have some fun with it. Some of the guitars sound okay, but I think some sound darn good!

I'm not saying that I'm weighing my decision soley on guitars, but it will carry a lot.

Let me know what you think.

Good job Mike.
Oye Coma Va by Santana is one of my favorite songs of all times, even though I don't have a clue what the lyrics mean.
The guitar sounds from Laila by Eric Clapton is spot on.
Could you identify the songs and styles you were imitating?
Oye Coma Va Santana
Laila Eric Clapton
Jumping Jack Flash Rolling Stones
? ?
Iron Butterfly
B.B. King
Another blues guitarist, can't remember the name.

Thanks Mike. Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple. Yes! Another group I loved. I have an organ "sound" on my PSR540 that says purple organ. I wonder if it's suppose to be the Deep Purple's organ.
