Shot of Tyros2 MAIN Display Screen.

A new Registration Feature enhancement on Tyros2 is that the "title name/description" of the 'currently selected' Reg Button: 1-8, is now ALWAYS displayed right on the MAIN DISPLAY screen itself. With Tyros1, you have to press 'several buttons' to enter a sub-menu to see this.

With Tyros1, I've frequently found it frustrating not knowing what the specific function/setting my currently selected REG button is for, so this is a welcome enhancement. The above picture shows that the currently selected registration button (6) is assigned to trigger ENDING #3.

Hi Scott
Thanks for the update on T2
The more I see of it the more frustrated I get with my 9000 but I will have to wait a little longer yet.
Question: On your pic it shows an insert on the "style" display which says "Internet".
Can you explain this please?
cheers
Eddie

Guys...Scott, Eddie...

Just a little trivia for you here...
The "New Registration" and "Internet" icons on the main screen of the Ty2 are not new to Yammie boards. My lowly (but incredible) PSR3000 also has these on its main screen. I guess the 'powers that be' at Yamaha thought a good idea was worth passing on to the flagship.
BTW, Eddie, the "Internet" icon indicates that one can download (and pay for) songs from Yamaha's website directly to the keyboard without a computer. A cool idea, but one I'll probably never use.

Graham, I've been informed that a few Music Finder improvements have been made with Tyros2.

1. MusicFinder records can now call up styles stored in the FLASH MEMORY Stick. This means MusicFinder songs will now have the ability to access an unlimited number of user styles.

2. New Repetoire function: Allows you to call up all songs sharing the same style.

Unfortunately, unless there's a surprise in store, MusicFinder is still not able to store key transpose settings, or call up a registration (1-8).

Right, its' because both this feature & the PSR3000 came out AFTER Tyros1. Tyros1 has been in poroduction for 3 years afterall.

One significant difference with the 'Internet' feature on Tyros2 is that that it allows not only internet download of new Yamaha styles, but brand new VOICES as well. I don't mean just edited preset Tyros2 voices, but brand new INSTRUMENT (audio samples), of which are downloaded, stored, and later accessed from the Tyros2 hard drive. New instrument (voices) will be bundled along with new style offerings, and featured as one of the auto-accomp parts or one of its OTS instruments, for live play, or selected to be used in another style as you wish. Whether the internet download feature will be big success I don't know, but the added BONUS of 'brand new instrument samples' to expand the Tyros2's sound (voice) palette, sounds exiciting. I do know that Tyros2 programmers are currently hard at work creating new Tyros2 downloadable styles & sound samples.

Hi Scott
It was very pleasant talking to you about 8 hours ago, when you were just off to bed and I had just finished my breakfast
I took my car to the garage as discussed and had an MOT and service. The MOT was painless and now I can use it for yet another 12 months!
Thanks for the updating on T2.
cheers

Scott,
Thanks for that info regarding the possibility of downloading new voices. I was not aware of that. FINALLY a Yammie that's 'expandable'!!! Hooray!!!

"Does the Ty2 Music Finder remember the last setting after exiting and then re-entering it? Instead of going to the top of the list of songs each time? If it does, then that would be the best feature of all in my opinion. If it doesn't then the Music Finder still has a big shortcoming."

Yamaha could easily add this feature to the Tyros 1 yet they have chosen not to. Why is it Roland and Korg take the initiative and add updates and enhancements to their Keyboards on a regular basis and Yamaha begrudgingly does so only after a constant and relentless outcry from owners, and then if at all? I get tired of pressing Yammie to support their current products and I think a lot of other Yamaha keyboard owners do to.

It would be sooooooooo nice if for once Yamaha took the initiative and gave owners of their relatively current products like the Tyros 1 and/or the PSR 9000/PRO, etc. an update that would enhance and/or improve it. Like the Registration 'icon' feature talked about. Which, I might add, is already on a mid-range keyboard called the PSR 3000.

I guess Yamaha doesn't believe in the 'Christmas' philosophy. That is; give for the simple reason that it will make someone happy. Not just doing so only after an outcry and constant badgering from upset owners or because of possible tarnishing of their image to an onlooking public.

Best regards,
Mike
