Anyone out there currently playing a Ketron XD-9? I'm ready to retire my ancient MS 60 and have been leaning towards an SD-1 plus. I really like the internal amplifier and speakers. Over 1/3 of my jobs are small dinner parties for horse farm owners, where
that's plenty.

I've used the MS 60 at least 4 nights a week for over 7 years...still works great, but it's getting a little "long in the tooth"

I would get the hard drive, harmonizer, etc.
Price differentioal is not the primary issue.

Advice, please?

Russ

Hey Russ ...

If you have played the SD1plus and than play the XD9 , you will miss many of the features .

If you have never played an SD1 and gp from the MS series to the XD9 , than you won't regret it . I would suggest the pattern expansion chip with XD series .

Sonically , the XD9 does not sound the same as the SD1 or SD1plus . Close .

Russ,

I went from an MS40 module to an XD3 after 8 fine years with the Solton.

I miss the aftertouch (only on guitars as all other voices have more realistic natural vibrato sampled along with the sound) and I overcome this with the wheel or copying the voice into a user voice and adding delayed vibrato (I also change effects to taste as well so it's not a waste of a user voice).

There are more voices on the SD1 but I have the Orchestral expansion and the addittional pettern memory so this is not an issue.

Price wasn't a factor for me either but the weight was. I use the XD with either a lightweight 61 note keyboard for lugging around and a fully weighted 88 one for residencies.

If it is important to you, try picking up a 76 note SD1 in a semi-flight case and if you can then I don't wanna meet you in an alleyway on a dark night.....
