I am looking for an inexpensive arranger, used, and have the following three choices all at the same price point, right around $300....I am not terribly interested in patch editing or complex sequencing; more into just playing with and without the styled rythms. For background, I already have a Casio WK3500 and have played all three yamaha choices....still undecided?

thanks for the input!

If you have a WK3500, why do you want another board? Do you think the Yamaha boards will be better then your current Casio?

I should have clarified, I need an additional board - I direct music at a large church, I have a Yamaha P90 as my primary stage piano, had a Casio WK1800 above it for arranger use (usually playing along with kid's choirs etc and drama stuff). Someone dropped the 1800, so I will leave my 3500 at the church full time. I could, in theory, simply buy another 3500 for home use, but would rather have something different. Just played a DGX on lunch break today (for the 100th time) certainly like the key action and presets, esp. the Sweet and Cool voices....opinions?

I don't know about the DGX300 but the DGX305 looks good: 76 notes, you can store extra styles on a card. That wonderful soprano sax is on there as well. That would be better then the PSR550. The PSR640 is really dated.

Hey Rikki,
Can you store styles on board on the DGX305? Can you load styles from a USB drive? This board has tweaked my interest.

Hi starkeeper,
You cant use a 305 with USB drives. It uses SmartMedia cards as a storage media.

I have a DGX 305. You can load as many styles as you want to the SmartMedia card
BUT..you can only load one style at a time into the ONE user area. You cannot play styles directly from the SmartMedia card that I can see. This is a drawback to this machine for those that would like to do this. On the other hand, you can load around 950 or so midi files on the SmartMedia card and play them directly. It will also show lyrics, chords, and score if you want. The keys are box style and have a different feel than the PSR series. For the price, it's a great keyboard though.
