I cant answer 1 because I havent tried it, but in answer to q.2, I assume you mean the loading of custom voice waveforms into the DIMM memory. This is only important if you use custom voices with new waveform data, and if you do then the waveform data will load up into either the built in 4MB of sample memory OR extra DIMM memory on switch on. Once the screen lights up on power up, it takes about 6 seconds or so to load over 3MB of sample waveforms, but this is the only time it does it unless you load a new voice bank into memory. Having used professional samplers, I consider this to be very acceptable for sample loading.
The time it takes is slightly quicker for a harddisk installed than from a USB device.
