This is what is printed on the Yamaha website:
A substantial percentage of product sold in the U.S. is domestically manufactured at Yamaha Musical Products (YMP - band and orchestral instruments) in Michigan, and Yamaha Music Manufacturing (YMM - pianos and professional audio equipment) in Georgia. Both factories are wholly-owned subsidiaries of YCA.
Even if it's just re-packaged in America, Canadian customs wud consider it to be customs taxes exempt (because of the North American Free trade deal)
Anyone have any experience/knowledge with this?

You would think the Free Trade would apply here if it's assmemble here in the US.. It would only make sense.

Most of the Yamaha PSR keyboards are not made in Japan. Only the 9000pro is. The PSR's are mostly made in Malaysia and Indonesia including the PSR2000. None of the keyboard products are made in the USA. Only band instrument, some Piano's and some PA speaker cabinets.

Sylion,
I confirm. I flipped over my PSR540 last night, and it said "made in China".
Damn, there would be customs duty on it.
Thanks everyone for responding.

Starkeeper,
If you bought one used in the US there shouldn't be a customs duty on it... Of course if you bought one from a US dealer, then the duty would apply, but buying it used shouldn't.. I wonder if drawing up a bill of sale stating it was bought used and not from a dealer would work.
