In the past two weeks I have been told by two people who have extensive knowledge in computers --- but not with keyboards ---
That when selecting a song on the computer it may be possible to send data to the keyboard and select a setup for that song.
Or, going from keyboard to the computer doing the same thing.

Could this be possible? Wow, it would be great, it would eliminate so much pushing, and selecting.

John, selecting a song from the computer using a SMF playback program, with the SMF including data required to make changes in the keyboard..are indeed possible...the reverse is not..that is the keyboard transmitting data to select a song on the computer, while changing it's own parameters..

what exactly are you hoping to do?
Do you play your keyboards in realtime using styles when performing, or do you use song/midifiles and sing & play along.

Hi John,
reason I asked, is I've been fooling round with Jos's ( 1manband) Busker software,
It gives me, chords, lyrics & single melody line notation, on the one screen, but don't think it would work the way you want.

Probably too much work involved anyway, to put together all the songs a performer would need.

The system you are currently using is the best and fastest way to go. And, to my knowledge, thre is no way for the laptop to communicate with the keyboard's setup similar to the MFD or registrations--it just does not have that capability.
