Hi José, thanks for sharing the drive letter change tip. I went ahead and tried this but unfortunately that didn't solve the CD/DVD intial 'mounting' problem. Still, your advice is MUCH APPRECIATED and will come in handy if I ever want to manually change drive letter names.

I also went ahead and restored my PC back to its EARLIEST POSSIBLE restore date: October 25th, but the problem still persists. At this point I suppose I'm going to have either live with the problem or bravely proceed with EDITING the Registry per Keybplayer Mike's detailed instructions.

I assume it's SAFE to attempt this Registry Edit procedure just as long as I remember to set a new System Restore point right BEFORE attempting this, allowing me (if required) to return to the registration settings as they are now, RIGHT?!

You must save the Registry before editing, just in case!!

GREAT NEWS! I'm THRILLED to report that my PC's CD/DVD media mounting problem has FINALLY been solved. My deepest gratitude goes out to Mike (Keybplayer) for directing me to the specific Windows Registry directory location of the problem, as well as Mike (MSutliff) for taking out his valuable time to walk me thru the procedure & trouble shoot this on the telephone. After looking in the sub-directory that Keybplayer had directed me to, Mike noticed that both the 'upper filters' and 'lower filters' files also included .bak files of the SAME name. Apparently for some unexplainable reason, the orginal files were overwritten. Thankfully, Windows automatically created backups of the originals, and after re-naming & replacing the originals, both my CD/DVD drives are mounting & reading media correctly again.

I find it particularly interesting to dicover so MANY computer savy members on a keyboard 'music' forum. I guess this supports the theory that arranger keyboarder players tend to also be technical-computer savy types as well. I only wish that I was as savy on computers as with making & performing music. Perhaps next year.

Thanks again to all for all the support you've given. The Synthzone truly is a 'special' family and I give thanks for being a part of it.

Scott

PS:

DonM, I remembered to back up the Registry files. Thanks.

Donny: I 86'ed the Mac platform 3 years ago and never looked back. Thankfully the iPod runs great on my PC.
