Sorry to bring up a past subject. But can I just simply use a Fender Passport or other stereo system alone to get a stereo sound out of the Tyros

I am also interested in buying a fender passport. I bought a Roland KC-500 two months ago I like the sound but it doesn't give that stereo sound. Please let me know if Passport is a good system. I thought about buying another KC500 but that makes the whole setup too heavy to carry any where. Any feedback?

Please listen and compare before buying a Passport system. To my ears, the original Fender 250 system had a very muffled sound - no sparkle or live presence to the sound. Hard to describe what I mean.

I notice that Fender has come out with an update to the Passport system - perhaps the new unit is better.

You might more satisfied with a Motion Sound amp.

I Sell both the passport and the escort by Peavey all in one PA systems. The passport has very little eq and very small speakers. The Escort has 10" speakers with horns and 150 watt stereo amp with a 7 band equalizer and treble and bass on each channel. Also, the Passport's Reverb is not very good where the Peavey has a very warm sounding digital reverb. The Peavey's speakers attach to the top of the mixer to make what looks like a long suitcase with wheels on one end and a handle on the other making it very easy to move around. There is a mic, cable, two speaker cables and two speaker stands included which all attach inside the case for storage. There is also storage areas for 4 more mics and all the cables. In comparison the Fender, even the new model which claims to be using much better quality speakers doesn't sound as good to me or my customers. Not all channels on the Fender have seperate EQ control and the master EQ is just Treble and Bass. Also, the Fender has no wheels and packs up like a suitcase so if you have to move it from your car to the Gig, unless you use a flat dolly, it's pretty heavy to move around. The price of the Peavey Escort is around $599.00. There are 4 mic preamps and a dedicated stereo line input channel as well as well as a stereo RCA channel.
Of the two, as you can tell, I highly recommend the Peavey Escort.

I've used the Escort for several months now on smaller jobs. It's great! I'll be using it again tomorrow for Easter Brunch at the Country Club.

The Escort is a fine system, but I found it had two drawbacks. First, it was relatively heavy, tipping the scales at about 75 pounds. Therefore, you need to transport it on a dolly, which is something I'm trying to get away from on the smaller jobs, especially those that involve packing the gear up a flight of steps.

The only other drawback was it's lack of bass--it just didn't have that gut-thumpin' bass that I was hoping to hear. The quality of the sound was excellent, there are lots of control features not found on other amps, and the ability to pack it up into a single unit with speakers, amp head, mixer, cables and other accessories would make this a great amp for some folks. Gonna take a close look at the Motion Sound 200 and 100 this week. I'll let you know if they prove out to be any better.

Gary.....Bottom line is if you want BASS you gotta "Push Air" 8"/10" woofers just dont cut it for me. After I A/B'd the Barbetta Sona 32c w/15" speakers/horn www.barbetta.com
against any powered unit in the store, I coild hear a huge difference in tightness, resonance, and overall sound, not to mention the "LIGHTNESS" 37 Lbs. and what sold me was the Mixing console in the rear offering me all the hookups I need to perform with especialy when you use two. For the small jobs one is more then enough.
If you want to Lessen your load Gary....check em out... and get a Laptop to eliminate Lyric books, Assorted stands,
Mp3 players, Cd players, more wires, etc etc.

I've had both the 250 and 150. The 250 was too heavy and I wasn't impressed. The speakers actually rattled during heavier bass lines. The 150 is great, IMO. I would buy the PD-150 next, hands down. Anyone want to sell a PD-150?
