I have both PSR-3000 and Korg PA-50 and i play PA-50 sounds on PSR-3000 keyboard using MIDI cable and I have few good voices on PA-50.
Now I require only Note on/off Messages from PSR-3000 but the problem is that the incoming MIDI messages of effects, harmony, octave, brightness, modulation etc from PSR-3000 affecting the Korg PA-50 sounds and the PA-50 sound quality is getting lost.So is it possible to send only Note on/off MIDI messages and blocking other MIDI mesages from PSR-3000? If this is not possible with PSR-3000,then is there any MIDI program that can be used with PC to filter out unwanted MIDI messages from PSR-3000 and allow only Note on/off MIDI messages?
Your help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
SUNNY.

Sunny,

All the Korg PA keyboards have very extensive MIDI control options - also the Pa50. You can set up to 8 MIDI IN filters that will block various incoming MIDI messages. In this case you should probably use the "All CC" and "SysExcl" filters. Look at page 129 in the Pa50 manual. Remember to save your global settings when you have made a setup that works.

Kind regards,
Tommy

Tommy,
Thanks for your help. I have set 8 midi-in filters but still some incoming MIDI messages effecting the Korg PA-50 tones.
Have you tried Bome MIDI translator program? Is this program solve my problem?

SUNNY.

If you have all midi filters activated the Pa50 should only receive key on/key off messages. Maybe the PSR-3000 is also sending messages on the Pa50 control channel that is used for selecting perfomances etc. Make sure that no MIDI IN channel is assigned to the control channel (page 127 in the manual). Actually it would be best only to have one channel active - the channel that the PSR-3000 is using to transmit your playing.

I have no experiences with Bome's Midi Translator, but I really think that you should be able to get it working without a PC. I did something similar on my Pa60 a few years ago.

Kind regards,
Tommy

"PrgChange", "SysExcl" and "All CC" should do it. And remember to check that the control channel is not assigned to any midi in channel.

Kind regards,
Tommy

Sunny:

To limit what the PSR sends, goto Function/Midi/Edit/Transmit and uncheck all but the note...

As usual Michael is correct.

And after customising the Midi Setup it would be best to save it somewhere for safeties sake!
