Hi,

I was thinking of upgrading from my PSR 2100 to the PSR 3000. Is the upgrade well worth or would it be better to go in 4 a tyros? Please help.

Thanx
SUNNY

The PSR3000 will be replaced later this year or earlier next year by a new model judging by the posts on Synthzone. If you can afford the Tyros 2 then seriously go for that as it offers far more than the PSR3000. Many members on here have gone down the same upgrade path and they don't seem to regret it at all. Have a good shop around m8.

I went from a PSR2000 to a PSR3000 because I use a lot of midi files. The operational improvements gained by changing from Floppy disc to Smartmedia (so no disc shuffling required), the capabilities of the USB system, and the mega voices are all very useful to me.

Strangely when I got the keyboard I didn't notice that the general voices were a huge improvement on the 2k, but now when I go backthe 2k sounds distinctly inferior.

I wouldn't upgrade from the 3k to a Tyros 1, the differences are not sufficient. However I might be persuadable to go to a Tyros 2, the keybed on the T2 is much better weighted and the Super Articulation voices sound fabulous. It's still a heck of a lot of money over the 3000, however.

Hi Sunny,

I upgraded from the 2k to the 3k(and now the Tyros2)and I did't regret it.

The 3k's sounds and features are worth it.

The 3k replacement is due out next year, probably in the spring.

As MacAllcock has said, the differences between the 3k and Tyros1 are small and the T1 doesn't have smart media or USB.

Good luck,

Ian
