I've had my VA7 open several times to fix a key which did not make a sound when I pressed it, or has lost it sensitivity. Until now, never had a shock...
Hasn't this something to do with static electricity? Air conditioners tend to make the air very dry.

It sounds to me that you've got a serious wiring problems... In your shoes, I would pickup the phonebook and start looking for a good electrician
cheers,

Have you ever been to Michigan? I happened to visit Ann Arbor several times during winter time. It is VERY cold there and you really need an AC to warm up the house.
