I wonder how they create those demos? Is it a recording that's in Tyros or real style?

Also, I heard Ibiza demo, very nice trance demo from Tyros; there is a cool drum-roll.. Does it mean that I'll be able to create that types of drum rolls or it was only in demo?

I had Roland before and they always have this nice drum-roll feature where you can specify the roll you want (8/32, 16/32 and so on).

I wonder if Yamaha PSR arrangers have this feature too. It's important for dance music.

Anyone knows?

You are asking a very good question. 10 years ago when I bought my first yamaha keyboard, the demo on the keyboard was spectacular; however, the manual warned that this is a special demo and may not be possible to emulate or create. 10 years ago is long time. But one experience tells me to think twice before buying a keyboard based on factory demo. To be honest with you, from the description of this board, the real difference in Tyros is the 10 guitar voices (called mega voices) which are specially made for styles. That means the real real real difference between PSR9kpro and Tyros are in those NEW styles that utilize those Mega voices.

Surely, the overall sounds of Tyros improved, but how much can they improve of the current PSR92k? For professional recording and performance, the string sound of Yamaha was always spectacular since the days of PSR SQ16. The only need was the sounds of strumming guitars within styles and those what really count.

Exactly!

Are u familiar with PSRs? Do they have drum roll feature? Not a sample but a feature like Roland has where you can do drum rolls with different per beat frequances.

With early keyboards the demo did often use multi timbral voicing, which would have not been possible to have created since many of the keyboards didn't offer midi or internal multitrack sequencers. Furthermore the demos usually do NOT use styles but are more like midi songs (multiple tracks) and again, years ago these demos showed off the sounds and not exactly what could be achieved on the keyboard.

The Tyros demos are actually midifiles or multi track songs created on a sequencer, though you can't access them as they are stored in ROM. It is possible to create the sound you hear in these demos, using a suitable multitrack sequencer. I dont think they would have been created on the internal keyboard sequencer (though I guess with patience it could be done) but rather on a pc sequencer. However all the sounds you hear on the Tyros ARE actually the voices in the keyboard being played from this midi sequence! Of course the programmers of these demos for Yamaha are very talented musicians and know how to get the best from the keyboard, even so its nice to hear what the keyboard is capable of.

As for your drum roll question, this can be done using the step time sequencer on the Tyros. There is an Ibiza style and I'm sure it has some similar drum rolls, if it hasnt no prob as you can create them yourself using step editing.

Regards
Simon
