I know to transfer files from computer to Tyros, we have to use HDD mode. But if we were to switch back to normal mode, do we have to power off and powner on?

That's the way the manual describes the process and that's the method I use.

Let me also say, it's a pain in the neck.

Too bad. My laptop does not have floppy, so if I want to try couple Midi, I will have to switch on and off very often. yamaha should change this.

Tiger, just go to an electronic supply store and get a USB floppy drive, which is about $30 USD, and connect it to a USB port on the computer and your all set to go. If you are out of ports, you can get a hub and use it with that.
