Hi all, I have just uploaded to my website a studio version of "Mas que nada", the third song I played at "Bossa Nova in Concert"; of course the rhytm section is not the same (and the difference is evident especially in the ending...) but at least you can get a better idea of my arrangement. The basic idea was to recreate the sound of a little vocal section and -to achieve this- I layered three vocal sounds in the right part of the 9000 pro, while the left hand played just a piano sound; from a technical point of view the trickiest point of the song was to play with the right timing the break (with a C7+9 chord). Personally I don't think that I would have been able to recreate the same sound with another arranger, but maybe I am wrong. Your opinions and comments are, as always, much appreciated. Terry, many thanks for your kind words. And you are right indeed: even if the song was originally written by Jorge Ben, it was the first version by Sergio Mendes that I had in my mind when I thought of the arrangement (many years later Mendes did another version, included in one of his compilations, but I like the first one much more). Since you have a fast connection and you are also a percussionist, I suggest that you download the "live" version, found on the "Brazil 2003" page of my website. The sound quality is very poor and I am barely audible, but I am sure that you will enjoy what the two percussionists were able to do. [This message has been edited by Dreamer (edited 06-03-2003).]

Hi Andrea,
I've been following your escapades during the past several weeks, wishing I were there as well to hear the wonderful music first hand. Just downloaded your file and it sounds great. As usual, you've done a fantastic job.
Keep up the great work,
Gary

Gary, thank you! I am gradually recovering from the jet lag and am finally playing some music again, after two weeks of tourism. I was not sure about the opportunity to post this song, because I don't know how many people, on this Forum, enjoy this kind of music. Hope that you will sell your rig at the best price. Andrea

Paul, once more, thank you for your kind words; yes, it was a very interesting trip (to say the least) and I can advice everyone to go to Brazil. I have tried to outline every aspect of my experience, including the few negative points (hot climate in some places) but -all in all- Brazil is definitely a "must come back" place (just like California ) A big hug to you and Evelina. Andrea
