Hi Guys,

The T2 has a great style to play that song and it's kinda fun.
I looked everywhere on the net, but could'nt find it.
Anybody got a lead sheet for it?
Lyrics and harmonies is all I need.

Thanks a lot

Eric

Escape (The Pina Colada Song Rupert Holmes)

I was tired of my (G)lady, we'd been together too (D)long.
Like a worn-out re(G)cording, of a favorite (D)song.
So while she lay there (G)sleeping, I read the paper in (D)bed.
And in the personals (G)column, there was this letter I (D)read:

"If you like Pina Co(G)ladas, and getting caught in the (D)rain.
If you're not into (G)yoga, if you have half-a-(D)brain.
If you like making love at (G)midnight, in the dunes of the (D)cape.
I'm the lady you've (G)looked for, write to me, and es(D)cape."

I didn't think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean.
But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine.
So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad.
And though I'm nobody's poet, I thought it wasn't half-bad.

"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne.
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape.
At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape."

So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you."
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew"..

"That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."

Unless you've got a good high tenor voice, you might want to transpose down to C..... the melody at 'If you like making love at (G)midnight' goes to a high B!

You might also try an F#m7(b5) at the end of each 4 bar phrase, to take you back to the G (still in the key of D), for instance, over the 'worn out' before 'recording'. It really helps nail the tune.

Thanks so much Donny for your fast reply.
Now that I see it, I feel a little embarrassed.
I probably could have figured this one out by myself....

You're right Dikki I will transpose it to my voice.
I have to do that with 90% of the songs anyway to fit my voice.
That's why I love arrangers. I can just transpose to my hearts desire without learning a different key..
