For me, hands down "Dance" or more preferably,"Trance",it's the only genre i tinker with.

10 - soft latin
20 - pop/rock 8/16 beat
10 - dance
10 - funk/soul

and then i would load other 50...

about the sounds: electric distortion guitars, drums, violas, cellos, violins, vocal ooos, aaas, hum.
and some acoustic guitars frets and pianos dynamics.

and generally, i think the way SA works is a good way to go. but still needs more imrpouvment.

why these styles? simply because this is my type of music. i think that would be the only answer, not only from me.

Authentic 50's-60's, Country-Western, Rock, Standards, Blues.
No need for what they now call Dance, or hip-hop or rap. Different strokes!

20 - Pop/Ballads
20 - Praise and worship
7 - Rock
3 - 3/4 time (non-waltz)

Organ voices on my PSR3K. I rarely use them, because they are so poor. Most members on the Zone say Ketron does a good job on organs. Roland and Casio do an excellent job as well.

I actually don't even know if this question is relevant. The answers will be all over the map. I want country, rock, pop and folk styles but how many people who buy arrangers have that mix as a priority?

I would go with a mix of jazz, light latin and small-ensemble swing styles. I'd really like to see an arranger with styles that focused on real-world small groups (as in trios and quartets) instead of trying to sound like some huge band with lots of horns and stuff. I mean really - it just looks a little silly to see someone push a button and suddenly sound like Frank Sinatra's full orchestra - it always has and it always will. All that's needed is some basic backing like drums/percussion, bass and light jazz guitar comps. 50 styles that emulated a small tasteful combo would be excellent.

As to sounds - that's easy: the ultimate General MIDI (GM) collection. GM is still a great concept but so many manufacturers have stocked it with poor quality sounds or ignored it altogether. GM keyboards are compatible with tons of software and existing SMF's but noone has yet created the ultimate GM sound set. Besides GM, I would put serious development into the real-world basic keyboard sounds: acoustic/electric pianos and a quality organ/leslie emulation. Without those, you don't have a sale.
