I purchased a used Tyros about a year ago, but I have hesistated using the USB connection because of the problems that I read about it.
I added a hard drive shortly after I bought it and the Hd has worked great. But I am now at a point were I would really like to use the USB but I am concerned that I may lose what I have saved on my HD. Is it possible that I may lose all my info or is it that it just won't transfer info back and forth.....?
I am really ignorant when it comes to issues like this so any guidance would be appreciated.

Regards,

Ed

I haven't had a Tyros in more than a year now, but I never had any trouble at all with the USB.

Ed,
I have the PSR3000 which in the area of data storage, I would think, works very similar to the Tyros.

When I use the USB, all that happens on the 3000 is another tab becomes active and I have been able to move from tab to tab, copy/cut/paste, even while a song is playing without a hitch.

My money says that it would be OK, BUT/FYI, I don't have much money.

I had the T1 now the T2 and have had zero problems with either transferring files back and forth via USB, they both work fine.

Hey Mr Ed.

I had the T1 before I got the T2 and used the USB connection to transfer files to the hard drive.

The usb works differently on the Tyros to the 3000. It works with a "host" rather than with a "device".

Whebn I first set it up it worked okay but it was a real yawn as the files are transferred over a USB to Midi link which is really slow.

It is well worth updating the T1 O/S if it needs it and getting the latest Yamaha driver if you do not have these already and then using the fast bulk mode.

There are no instructions in the manual regarding how to do this as it was a later enhancement, but you simply hold down the music finder button while you turn on the Tyros.

You then get a different isplay on the tyros and all of the player functions are disabled but you can then see the T1 HD as a drive on your computer and can perform fast file transfers.

Best of luck.
