What holds the memory in the PSR2000.
I know it could be a small batt.
I've had mine as soon as I could get my hands on one, & I'm worried it might lose all the memory! I thing I have it all backed up on floppies. When we unplug the power there has to be something to hold the memory.
The 740 used a large cap. to hold the memory.

I'm not sure if it's true, but I was told there was a small, internal battery on the main board that was similar to a cmos batter in a computer and the life expectancy was about 7 to 10 years. If it's similar to my PSR-5700, once it dropped dead, you had about two days to replace it before the storage capacitor lost the information and the keyboard had to be reprogrammed. If I ever have to take one of my 2000s apart, I'll check the board and post the information here.

Nobby,

The User Memory area is Flash ROM. It requires no battery or supercap to retain the memory.

That's an improvement over the 740 which has a supercap. Luckily I play it every day so it never discharges (supposed to take a week, then you lose everything and it goes back to the defaults).

Thanks for the info Steve. That is a big improvement over some of the older boards and obviously will save lots of grief.

Cheers,

Gary
