I have a PSR 2000 and am going to get another keyboard to go with it. My thoughts are a Kurz 2600 - Just thought I'd ask the forum on opinions on this setup - and what would be your dream combo setup.

Just the Kurzweil alone is a great keyboard.. It sounds really good, plus the sequencer and synth engine on that keyboard are designed very well.. Adding the Kurzweil to the 2000 will be a good set up. You can utilize the great styles from the 2000 and spice them up even more with the Kursweil's voices. That's an intersting combo too. Having two keyboards from different sides of the world so to say.

I'm just a hobbiest and Keyboard nut. Every 3-4 years I go nuts and buy something new. Last time is was a Yamaha US-1 Organ and a K2000 RS Kurzweil rack - Love organ and kyboards in general - So now I have the PSR 2000 set up in my computer room and want to give it a playmate. I will sell or trade the K2000RS soon.

Just my 2cents. When I was searching for a second keyboard, I looked at the Kurzweil, Motif, Korg. The rap on the Kurzweil is reliability. I was told to stay away from them by more than one person. ON a few occaisions I was told only to buy Kurz keyboards that came in a purple box since they were the only ones Quality Controlled!!!

All this static made me steer clear of Kurz and instead evaluate, the purchase a Korg Triton Pro.

Psr-2000 and Yamaha S-90 or Motif 8. Great all around sounds. Reliable products, great as stand alone piano, and tons of expandability. You'll never need another keyboard (Well...Uncle Dave would)...Good Luck Brian

Jerry, ... if you're happy with the key feel and only 61 keys on the PSR2000, you could also add a sound module instead of another keyboard. Takes up less space. Costs less too. Roland has some of the best sounds around I think, ... take a listen. And the XV5050 for example gives you 1400 new patches to play with. Add an expansion card for around $300.00 and you get an additional 600 patches.

First, on the reliability issue of Kurzweils - I've heard people I know tell me they had this or that problem with K's, but I've owned three different models and a module and never had the first problem even after extensive touring with them. Mine are rugged and still my top choice for a stage piano. I used to have dual keyboards with the 88-note Kurz's on bottom and a variety of keys on top. However I have taken it upon myself to reduce the amount of gear I carry so I mostly use just a Yamaha 9000 Pro on stage and have my Kurzweils in the studio. Now Kurzweil is coming out with the 61-note K-2661, and I'm thinking that might look good as a second keyboard over my 9000 Pro. Funny how these setups evolve.

I have the Yamaha S90 to go with my PA80. I will trade/sell my PA80 for something like a Tyros, but will keep the S90. It's simple, has great piano sound and action.

I guess I'm going to try for the K2600 If I can find a good used one. The reason I didn't go for another Yammy board is I feel it would be a waste duplicating sounds. I found it surprising I didn't get to many comments on the Triton. The Motif looks pretty exciting. The bread & butter PSR 2000 sounds are really great except the organ & piano.
The Speaker deal is giving me lots to think about so this will be an adventure before its all oaver

The Kurzweil K2600 is a rock solid board. I use to work a retail store and sold all the different brands. Kurzweil Pro products are just about bullet proof. The Kurzweil Mark 12 Home digital pianos had some problems for a bit, but have since fixed the problems. The only thing I would warn you about, is that the instrument is very deep, and will overwhelm a lot of users. 2 owners manuals and a video manual will still leave most people scratching their heads. With a loaded K2600 it isn't can it do, but how does it do. If you are looking just for the best Pianos, vintage keys, you really outta check out the Promega 3. If you spend anytime playing the instrument, it will knock your socks off, how real the instrument sounds.
