The only thing Ive been reading lately here is about the PSR 2000. I have a 9000 Pro and
Im beginning to ask myself if the 2000 is better.What happened with the 9000 fans? Should I trade mine for a 2000. I would like to see a comparison from you

Hi Rafael: Don't worry, your 9000pro is still the TOP of the line Yamaha arranger and contains MORE sounds/styles & features than the PSR2000. Basically the PSR2000 is a 'mid priced' version of your excellent keyboard. The reason I chose the PSR2000 is because of it's weight (23 lbs) and smaller size (portability). If you like though, I'd be glad to trade you my PSR2000 for your 9000pro. - Scott

Thanks for your support Scotty, but I will keep the 9000 Pro. Here in Puerto Rico we do not have the 2000 yet and I was curious about all the splash it is causing.

The 1000/2000 are still in honeymoon mode. They replace such a great pair of boards as the 640/740, it is only natural that they generate a lot of conversation. Also I believe that many people are still trying to sought out the fact from fiction hype (of which there is a lot of) that has been generated. Me, I am still deliriously happy with my 9000Pro and expect to have a long and happy relationship, even though I always check out the new boards on the block. Although the 1000/2000 boards are great advances in their category,the 9000PRO is still waaaaaay ahead of them (and the rest of the pack)

You're not comparing apples to apples. The Pro is fantastic, if you want to pay 2-3 times the price, don't mind the size and weight and need the extra features such as hard drive, sampler, expansion slots, video outs, aftertouch, XLR inputs, lights! etc. The 2000 is a wonderful buy for the money. The speakers are loud enough to use as monitors, the styles and sounds are really good, it's easy to operate and you can carry it under one arm.
As you know, I used to have a 9000 and now have a 2000. (long story). I wish I could afford both the 2000 and a Pro. Can't wait to see the successor to the Pro (10,000 Pro??) I estimate we'll see one next summer and will be able to buy one in about a year or so.

Well said Don. I couldn't agree more. For the price of the 9000 pro ( which I'd LOVE to have by the way if the price were more affordable for me...) I was able to buy a PA80 and a 2000..and I'd say..just for my tastes.. I'm pretty happy with that all in all. The PSR2000 is not a 9000 pro or even a 9000, but it's a heck of a board for what it costs and will do a nice job of making music in the right hands. It's an easy board to navigate and and easy board to transport as well, and the price may certainly allow others who couldn't touch a 9k pro ( like me for example..lol ) to experience some of the nice sounds and features that Yamaha has to offer. As far as replacing the 640/740, I just replaced my 740 with the 2000. The 740 had good sounds overall, but I think the 2000 sounds better, and for features, I think the two are practically light years apart.

This is a 9000PRO stroking topic, for all of us who have taken the plunge. I don't think anyone here disputes what everyone here is saying. The 2000 is a great board and worthy to carry on the line after the 740. Me,(?) well I bought a 640, longed for the 740, dreamt of a 9000 and ended up owning a 9000PRO. Such is life! I guess at the end of the day, when the crunch comes, it's "horses for courses".
