AJ, You really should try it with one sub before you decide to get a second. Unless you are playing for a thousand people and want to rattle the floor, one will be enough. DonM
P.S. If you are not hearing enough bass, then you probably haven't done something right. When I first auditioned the Bose at Guitar Center, I couldn't hear any bass. The speakon cable that connects the sub, must be inserted and then TURNED to lock it in, on both ends. Otherwise you won't hear the bass. Be sure you did this. DonM

AJ, Also try different presets 2.0 setting. (Don't go by the name only) I use #55 with my SD1 EXP, with 1 bass unit, and it's almost too much bass. I had to lower the volume on the Bass instruments (or cut back on the remote EQ) to keep it from booming.

Friends,
Thanks for your input.
The bass module is connected properly and I am getting enough Bass (actually a little too much) at moderate volumes. However when I turn up the volume (remember, I am trying to get a bunch of Caribbeans and Africans on the dance floor and they NEED to feel that "thump" in your face - club effect if you may), that is where I run into problems. The Bose PAS is designed such that at very high volumes, the internal compressor kicks in for the low freq. signals (to save the sub and limit distortion) thus I loose a lot of Kick and Bass notes. This is for a 6 piece band running through a Yamaha EMX5000 mixer and out to the PAS - also bass, horns and lead guitar are live!
Again, I just need to be able to hear that clean kick drum and distinguish bass notes at high levels (just as clear as it does at low). Just myself or say in church or performing for a wedding, this is PERFECT!!!

Strange,
I came back from our show last night ... we had the best sound we've had in a while (with our new PAS) - however, we realized our bass player still had to (after 3 songs) plug into his stage bass amp as we didn't get enough "umph and low end volume" from the PAS sub ... Anyway, I have decided to get another sub (as suggested above by some) or if I get a good deal, another PAS with a sub. That will be perfect so if there is anyone out there willing to let go of thier PAS for .... drop me a line or two.
But here is the strange thing that happened last night too ... most eyes (especially the men) were on the PAS and not on us (or the SD1Plus-EXP or T2 as before). Well, at least the ladies kept us in check, but that goes to show how many people are impressed with your gear too!

AJ..run a line out directly from your mixer[Yamaha] into the Sub woofer...This way you have a volume control separately from your Bose, and will give you the gain without the limiter..
Also, I don't think a 250 watt sub is going to do what you are looking for...I use a 700 watt Yorkville for the same purpose[mostly Irish and Italian dancers , here though]..
