Dear Friends. I got this Phelm (spelling) in my throat and a few nights ago a chap (drunk but able to talk VERY clear ) told me that he had a cat at home and the cat (Name escaped me) can sing better than I could. I thanked him for the information and when he went back to the bar I told him that I hope he doesnt abuse the cat like he abused me. When he couldnt convince the customers that I was a useless singer he went home. I am grateful to him as I almost packed up the gear and went home. I survived and we had a good night. I am stronger. So heres to Singing cats an raging Drunks and heres to me. Tonight I was at home Phlem in throat I gave Gig to a friend. At 10.30 pm I had to play for a dance (Band did a runner) 130 Euro for singing with a full throat of Phlem one and half hours. Perhaps Ill stay at it. Pierce 30 yrs at it now.

Pierce,
Next time someone attacks you like that tell them this:

"I may have a "frog" in my throat tonite, but when I wake it ... it will be fine again. And when YOU wake up ..... you will STILL be a ******** (substitute word of choice)."

It won't winn you any Dale Carnagie awards, but it might make you feel better. On the other hand ...... who cares what drunks have to say! It's the booze talking, anyway. Just let it roll off your back.

It's more like..."Sticks and stones may break my bones, but you are one big ugly muther F_________". That always sends em packin....I wish I had a dime for every criticism made of me...I'd be rich...unless I invested in Enron....Brian

This works usually if the heckler is "young" looking. I'm talking 19 to 22 thereabouts.

... isn't it GRAND what we gigging musicians have to put up with? .... but nothing beats the feeling of those nights when the crowd is reacting in positive fashion to every tune you play ...

I tell 'em, the more they drink, the better I sound.

Actually, my crowds are not really big drinkers.
