I have the (old) YAMAHA PSR-SQ 16 and PSR 500m. I connected the two by a MIDI cable in order to import stuff from the 500m to the SQ16. Still can´t get any result. I have the SQ 16 manual but not the one for the 500m. Can anyone give mea clue how to set up the conncetion and make things run? How do I get the music into the sq16 sequencer tracks?

If this situation had worked out, believe me I would still have my PSR_500.

Unfortunately, the PSR_500/500M does NOT send out Auto Accom notes via MIDI. This is something YAMAHA did and only changed in the subsequent PSR 510 series. The RHS notes and sounds are transmitted via MIDI, however when you play the Auto Accom, it is 'for you' only. Even the demos are not transmitted either!

So how do you copy the arrangement parts? Although painfull, you might have to MUTE all tracks on the PSR500M, and as you recall them one after the other, manually 'record' these into the PSR_SQ_16. I have done this for a couple of the Caribbean/Latin styles and now have them on my Ketron X1.
