Alain,

I have 2 KC300 and they sound great in stereo. It makes a big difference in stereo comparing with mono. You must connect the L & R keyboard outputs to the L & R inputs on the KC300 in order for it to work in stereo.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
I have connected my keyboard to one kc300 and I see there is a possibility to connect them through stereo link .
This cable connects both amplifier...stereo link in to stereo link out.
Did you connect them in another way ?
Thanks

Alain,

You have two ways to connect your keyboard to 2 Roland KC-300s in stereo:

1. Connect your keyboard's L & R outs to the L & R of, say, channel 1 on the first KC-300 (assuming this one is your left speaker). Then connect a 1/4" cable to its stereo link out, with the other end of that cable connecting to the stereo link in of the second KC-300 (your right speaker in this case).

2. Connect your keyboard's L out to the L of channel 1 of your first KC-300 and connect your keyboard's R out to the R of channel 1 of your second KC-300.

The advantage of method 1 is that if the distance between your keyboards and one of your KC-300s is short, then you can use shorter cables to link out to that KC-300 and use only one long 1/4" cable to link between stereo out and stereo in of the KC-300s, but then the channels of the second KC300 (linked with stereo in) will be disabled automatically. If the distances between your keyboards and the 2 KC-300s are equal, method 2 allow direct hookups without the extra stereo link cable.

I hope you get the picture.

Thanks,

The KC-500 has a simular option of linking another amp. The difference with the 300 his that the mixer in the 500 is a stereo mixer.
I own one, and still saving for the second one. These things rocks!

Paul, your explaination on usage of the KC300 is excellent. Except in case 1, the L&R outputs from the keyboard should go to Channel 2 or 3 of the KC300. Only Channel 2 or 3 support stereo inputs. Channel 1 & 4 are mono.

arnothijssen, KC300 also has a stereo mixer (channels 2 & 3). Each channel accepts L & R inputs.

Henry,

Thanks for the correction. When I replied tp Alain, I was at my office and was in a hurry. I intended to answer for hookups of KC-300s but my mind was only thinking of my own pair of KC-500s.

Thanks,

Paul,

I would prefer the KC500 over the KC300. But the price was quite a bit higher ($1000 for the KC500 versus $600 for the KC300 in Canada). What keyboard(s) do you have?

Henry,

Price of KC500 is around $459 and KC300 is at about $399 in U.S.

I like the KC500s much better than KC300s for better mixer and fuller sounds. It took me more than 2 years to save enough money to buy my second KC500. However, KC300s can be mounted on standard speaker stands whereas KC500s are too heavy for stand mounting.

I have a few keyboards (acquuired gradually over a period of 6 years):

Arrangers:

Yamaha PSR9000
Ketron X1
Korg I30
Roland G1000
Yamaha PSR730 (my kids use it now)
Yamaha QY100 (portable module) w/ Yamaha CBXK2 49-key controller

Synths:

Roland XP30
Yamaha S80 w/ piano & harmonizer plug-ins
Alesis QuadraSynth Plus Piano

Others:

Yamaha DJX2 (fun toy)
Yamaha G5 (6'6") grand piano (cheap accoustic grand for my kids)
Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute accoustic drum set w/ Paiste Signature series cymbals
Pintech electronic drum set w/ Roland TD8 head
Roland HPD-15 Handsonic
