A buddy of mine was looking for a new keyboard and saw a PSR-8000 with a hardrive on Ebay.. He asked me a question regarding how it worked and I couldnt answer it so I'm posting it here...

From my understanding the PSR-8000 had a sequencer like that of the PSR-740 which was direct disk. With the drive installed does the user have the choice of using the installed drive for recording music or does the song have to be first recorded to disk and then transfered to the drive.. Could you record a song and when you're asked to save to disk, can you select save to drive, and then continue on? Anyone know this one?

Thanks,
Squeak

I never had a problem recording songs on the 8000. It gives you option to save after you record. You save directly to the hard drive.

Ahh... seeing the 8000 on ebay brings back memories. For example of those nice scroll wheels underneath the display. Those were great!! Yamaha what were you smoking when you decided to get rid of them??? I concur with Don, recording couldn't be easier... hope your friend will enjoy his 8000. I'm surprised to see bids are up to almost $1000.00. That's pretty amazing.

Watch out. With the introduction of the TYROS many older keyboards come back to dealers and second hand for sale. Many of the dealers here are reluctant to buy back the PSR8000/9000's, when selling the TYROS Value indications are around 400-500 euro - privat sales. Dealers add some cost to guarantee services and sales.
