Okay- Just need to vent:

I've joined this message board quite a while and learned a thing or two from you guys here and I think during my visits to this place, I've managed to steer clear from making any enemies...thank goodness I hope it'll stay that way.

I joined different message boards than just this one, and boy I experienced how aggravating to receive personal attacks from differerent members today... this was just a different (non musical) board....I was just venting about my situation of living in the Northwest etc..etc...while somebody else who was NOT even living in the U.S started attacking me and saying I was posting "crap"..ah..I could be having an off day yesterday and today so I took that really hard. Ah, could be that the majority of the members in that forum was in their teens to early 20s. I guess I should be blaming their stupidity on their age...I guess, I don't experience that here (despite a few frictions I noticed between us lately).

Could be that we in your 'older' age are learning to be nicer (at least when we type)?? OR we learn to treat other members nicer due to our understanding that we should extend the same respect to the person we email the same way as if we are talking to them in person??

Ah...I feel like crap, but I'm done venting.

I think its a mattter of maturity. When I was running a chat room years ago, there were always a couple jerks who wanted to come in and spoil evertbody's fun. They would come into threads were they had nothing particular to say about the subject a hand and start calling people names. The idea of the board was to have a free and open discussion, and better than 99 percent of the posters understood that there were certain rules of civility that came as part of responsible participation. We were willing to respect the rules because we valued each other's participation. The tiny minority who tried to spoil the fun were too selfish to understand that respect for others is a basic premise of civilized discourse.

These people were not always among the younger members of the group, so their age was no excuse for their abuse. We had a few thirteen-year-olds who played the game according to the rules and earned the respect of all. No, this kind of abuse can only be attribitued to a lack of maturity.

Thanks FF,
Yeah, I guess I should blamed it on their personality only and not even take their age into account.

I guess my objective to go online sometime is (aside from searching for info) is to also vent, rather than spending hundreds on talking to a counselor or something like that...heck, why pay if you can do it for free?

I guess the problem is you can't post something, and not expect some immature people to post a self-rightous one-liner advise/judgment or whatever that might be.

Okay-I'm not feeling too crappy than this morning.

This is likely an issue we've all dealt with or a least faced while being on-line and a member of various boards.

I belong to a number, all music related, and I know that there are members here who have been "attacked", sometimes very strongly for sharing their opinion on a subject. The opinion often included fact and conjecture, but the long-and-short of it was.... somebody verbally attacked them for their opinion.

This type of confrontation was not just from the younger folks but from older folks [who no doubt feel secure behind the nets baseline anonymity] who should know better, and was thoroughly unjustified. We've seen it here to a lesser degree.

I have seen some very open honest folks, who've devoted time and effort to a board, DRIVEN FROM IT by others who really couldn't care less about the subject or content in question. Their satisfaciton must come from the personal confrontations and stirring it up, I guess.

My perspective is that opinions are like a**holes.... Everybodys got one !! And because of that, I tend to ignore the antagonist. There are those who just won't let something drop seem to delight in the aggressive response.

To them I simply refuse to reply.... after all, you may seeth quietly at home, but if there's no response to their tirade, who they gonna correspond with ? Themselves ? I have to imagine that no response has just got to be tearing them up !! LOL

My $0.02
Regards,
Steve

anyone who comes to this site are accepted, and all offer help and advice when requested, regardless to who you are,i see this site as a family of friends,i think for anybody to attack someone for their views is narrow minded and immature, lets put this behind us and go forward, after all it,s music that we all love, right, cheers mike

Thanks guys for your comments/inputs. Again, I wasn't talking about our friction, this happened between me and a couple other members on a different board. One member was actually known for pissing a lot of people there before. So, I just had to come here and let off my steam for a little bit aaaah...the beauty of belonging to multiple boards

The dust has settled in now on the other side. I privately emailed the guy and offered my 'apology' and explanation. Luckily he's somewhat reasonable also so he said sorry and he'll back off from the drama over there.

Things are okay now.

Okay- back to talking about music

Say what you want KN, just as long as you don't knock the Rascals. Oh by the way, anybody download any good illegal stuff lately? Only kidding.

Speaking of the Rascals, anybody know of any good PSR2000 styles appropriate for any Rascals songs?
