After seeing the price on this thing, I don't think I'll ever complain about a keyboard being overpriced again. This isn't an arranger, but DAMN! what a price.. Go to www.sweetwater.com and in the search box type K2600X AES I'm still shocked.. You can buy a brand new car for the price of this thing.... Squeak

Sander, I don't think it's a typo.. I have the sweetwater catalog and that's where I saw the synth. The list price for this keyboard in the catalog is $20,995.97 Like I said, I'm still shocked myself. I never thought I'd see a keyboard with a price like this. For twenty grand they better damn well include a stand... All I want to know is does it make eggs, keep drinks cold, is it cable ready, have internet set up, babysit the kids, and much more????? For that price it should do all this..

Interesting price indeed My guesses are; It says in the description that there are 40 cd roms with kurzweil native libraries included. I could not find the details of these cdrom's but the cd-roms for Kurzweil are expensive and can range from $ 95 to $ 1500,- per piece! So I think this causes the pricetag. This is not the price for the keyboard itselve. note: I payed for my K 2600 S including two extra daughter-rom cards us $ 4.055,-- two years ago. I mounted a scsi disk myselve coming from an old pc I trashed a couple of years ago. I mounted 128 mb ram coming from the same old pc. The difference between K2600 and K2600X are 76 or 88 keys, where I can assure you that the semi-weighted 76 keys have almost the same resistance/action as the 88 full weighted. (which I love and others hate.) The (s) stands for the built in sampler.

I can understand how the price would be jacked up a bit due to all the CD's that come with it, but the board itself isn't really all that.. Hell the polyphony on the thing is only 48. Even the Casio MZ-2000 had more polyphony. Kurzweils have always been way overpriced. I know so many dealers who refuse to sell them because of the high price tag on them for both the dealer and the buyer. Actually there was a music store in my area that just opened up, and when I mentioned the name Kurzweil to him, it was like I just cursed at him. He said he personally will never carry a Kurzweil because of the prices on them. He'll carry every other brand on the market but them. He's been playing for 38 years and knows keyboards inside and out. I too had the same opinion when I was managing a music store. Years ago when I managed one, we delt with so many brands of keyboards, but every time the Kurzweil rep would come to see me I would just tell him not interested. It was an opinion shared by both me and the store owners..
