I Have been enjoying my pa-80 and everyone else seems to be moving up to the Pa 1x or whatever. My situation is this i have a weighted ensoniq board that i love and would be happeier with an arranger module unit perhaps the korg i5? Could anyone tell me what i would lose with the downgrade? stylewise, soundwise? Any other suggestions for modules would be appreciated . seems the i series are in my price range though. Tried the roland ra-50 a little dated and no user styles etc.
Thanks All,
Mike

Virtually any module arranger would be a donwngrade coming from the Korg PA-80, certainly the i5 module, both in sound and in styles.
You might consider the Roland RA-800, the module version of the G-800, (if you can find one), and next to that the Ketron Modules, which are pretty up-to-date, and also pretty pricey therefor.

The i5m is archaic compared to the sounds and styles in the PA80. It will be a major Downgrade if you do that.
1/2 the polyphony (32)
older, dated samples
older, dated drum styles (although, some are very usable)

In general - the entire architecture of the unit has been udgraded since the "i" days. Why not concider getting a very small, weighted key controller to slide UNDER the PA80 and trigger it from that. Maybe the Ensonig is too big to seem appopriate. Fatar makes really skinny controllers that feel great.

Just a few options for ya.

An option for a module would be the Ketron XD3. The sounds and styles are great. This module would not be a downgrade from the PA80 but might be considered an upgrade by many on this forum. The XD3 has mostly the sounds and styles from the flagship SD1plus keyboard. In my store I sell both the Korg and the Ketron products and the choice of one over the other is strictly a personal choice decesion.
The i5m module would not even be in the same league as the XD3 module. The XD3 module would cost quite a bit more then an old, used i5m, but worth the difference in quality of performance.
