Hi,
How would the Korg PA80 vocal harmony compare to the PSR 2100? Also the MIC output quality. ALso, what would be major advantages of the PA80 over the PA50? Please enlighten!!! Im looking to buy a PA80 in this week.THANX

Love
SUNNY

When I had a PA80, the vocal harmony was unusable for me. There were no presets, no options. I don't know if they have upgraded, but that was one of the main reasons I sold it and bought a 2100.
The mic sound itself was very good.

Hi Don,

How was ur experience with the PA80. I want to combine it with the 2100. What do you think? Shud I trade the 2100 for the PA80? I dont feel like since I will lose out on the VH presets on the 2100. How abt using both boards one above the other? Im a bit confused. Also since the PA80 is a lot of money.
Thanx

SUNNY

why don t you consider buying pa50 instead of pa80 and use an vocal harmonizer as a separate gear? you could control it thru midi and is no comparision between onboard harmonizer and dedicated harmonizers.

Adimatis,
Thanx for your reply.
1) I could use the VH on the 2100 as I only use it very occasionally. But I do use the MIC a lot with onboard effects such as delay etc. Will I get to use the same on the PA-80?
2) Also I needed an alternative pallette of styles and voices. I love the dance styles on the PA80 and also the voices so I will have a great variety to play with.
3) What about midi song playback. How are the PSR2100 and the PA80 compared?

Pleaze help
THANX
SUNNY

sound quality and hardware wise (and speakers too)PA 80 is better.has aftertouch that 2100 lacks.PA has better drums, synths, pads more fuller sound, and cripsier(than both yam and rolands since samples(triton board) are recorded at 48 khz oppose to 44.1).Pa also has better efx.good seq(where in yam seq is not a real seq, that's why they say -song recorder).pa has HD option, dual seq for mid file playback, sampling(via expensive and low mem cards).mid file playback wise PA has better sound(for me).

on the other hand but 2100 also has it's strengths (as arranger functions wise)and some reed sounds and LIVE!ac piano are better than PA.onboard display is much easier to navigate and change parameters.
VH has editing power that PA lacks,it's lighter.but has narrower keys and built quality is not so great.

why pay around 1500-1800 to buy a pa 80?not a good decision IMHO.get a PA 50 and digitech vocalist(339$)and you'll be OK.

or sell your 2100 and get a 3k and pa50 if you want to spend more.

Dear jamman,

Just the decision I had taken. Thanx a zillion for your opinion. That really helped.
Will look for the PA50.

keep in mind that all styles on pa50 are fully customizable. you can replace the factory styles with whatever you like.
that means hundreds of style that you like and use! you can import styles from different instruments or original ones and here you go!

My pleasure.Just note that pa 50 is sound and functions wise 99% same as pa 80.but it has no aftertouch, keys are not as good and ofcouse lacks options(VH,HD,video out, sampling etc),but for the sound wise you can't get a workstation sound equipped arranger for 999$.believe me.that's THE best deal in arranger history.(remember korg arrangers were so damn expensive i3,i30 to even IS series, you can never get them under $1500.thanks for competition(and China too),korg dropped their price so that most can enjoy a true pro sounding board for less.
