Fran Carrango or other EMC Styleworks Universal owners:

HELP! I own EMC Style Works Universal (version 1.6 v2.68) and just attempted to convert some GEM (General Music) WK8 styles to Yamaha PSR format. I was shocked to discover that my version of EMC StyleWorks Universal (I thought it was fairly current) doesn't support converting GEM styles (source style) to other brand styles. The only GEM support my version provides is converting other brand styles to GEM, and only to arranger models: WK2 and WK3. Is there something wrong with my softare program?

Is there possibly a more recent version of EMC StyleWorks Universal which supports converting styles both FROM and TO the GEM WK8 format? What version of EMC StyleWorks Universal supports this?

there was definitely a separate Gem program for WK8, and I was under the impression the universal program had all the separate modules incorporated. There must be an upgrade for it.

Scott I found a work around.. Open the Gem WK2/3 module, there you will find the WK8 conversion in the list..Convert to the WK2/3, then convert to Yamaha..Fran

Hi Fran: Unfortunately my version (1.6 v2.68) of EMC Styleworks Universal doesn't include a 'GEM WK2/3 module'. In fact it doesn't include any 'GEM module' whatsoever.

In addition, my StyleWorks Universal 'Yamaha PSR module' only supports converting from GEM WK2/3 styles, and not WK8 or WK4 I'm a bit surprised because I thought my software version was relatively current.

Which version(s) of Style Works Universal supports the GEM WK8 and/or WK4? Thanks.

GEM (Generalmusic) have dedicated software (GEM WORKS PROFESSIONAL) for converting styles from Technics, Roland, Yamaha, Korg, Solton, etc. Also with this program you can convert a song (MIDI file) to a user style. Import & Export styles & User style manager - this lets you build your own style library directly on the hard disk of your PC: Styles can be added, removed, Exchanged or renamed, very easily.

Scott, I am wondering, maybe Gem is no longer licensing to EMC. My version is older than yours and has the Gem module[I emailed it to you]. It also does not have the WK8 conversion within the other groups[Yamaha, Roland etc] but does have the WK8 conversion within the WK2/3 modules, allowing us to convert the WK8 to the WK2/3, at this point we can convert to Yamaha, Roland etc..

Hi Fran: BINGO! I'm now finally able to get my EMC StyleWorks Universal to display & launch the GEM module. Apparently there is some kind of software glitch my program version that won't allow me to select the GEM module when in the 'Yamaha module'. When I launch another module (ei: Technics, etc), the GEM module is then viewable as a 'system' module change option. My Yamaha module is version 2.68 while the other modules read 2.64. Perhaps that's the reason I'm getting the weird glitch. Fran, please launch the 'Yamaha module' and tell me what EMC Styleworks Universal version appears.

I then attempted to load the WK8 styles in EMC's GEM WK8 module, but EMC won't recognize them. Maybe the WK8 styles are damaged or the GEM software is buggy. Fran, I went ahead and sent you the styles Vic01 sent me for converting, so maybe you could give it a try on your system. Many thanks for all the help you've given. - Scott
