Tyros is a great keyboard in many aspects.
However, in build quality it's a piece of junk.

The friend of mine who worked on my PSR2000/2100 keyboards had to replace the contacts. It's from the part wearing out. It's a good sign - that you're having a lot of fun with your keyboard. Of course, contact cleaner - can't hurt trying.

My advice: Get it repaired before you embarrass yourself at a gig. I did a gig where I couldn't use Style Variation D during the second half of the show.

That's where the confusion started! There are NO buttons ON the LCD screen!!!!

So....that's why my LCD keeps falling down.....No buttons!!
I'll go back to suspenders.

I have used a contact cleaner on some of the buttons on my Tyros but I've never used it on the Direct Access or Exit buttons Al.

There are contact cleaners and then there are 'Contact Cleaners'. The one I use is called "Blow Off" and it is among the best in my opinion. I had problems with the Saxaphone Panel button where I had to press harder to get it to engage. After using the "Blow Off" it works much better. Same goes with a couple other buttons that were 'sticking' a bit. It really works wonders and I highly recommend it. It is non-conductive, dries very fast, and it leaves no residue or odor.

What I think happens sometimes is dust gets in the crevices of the buttons and after a prolonged period of build up of dust the button[s] become somewhat un-responsive and it requires more pressure to make the proper contact because of the dust, etc. Blow Off gets rid of the dust, etc., and does a wonderful job of cleaning the electronics and contact points, etc.

Thanks for your help. I hadn't thought about using Air to clean my contacts. I think I'm going to try that before using contact cleaner. I have found in the past contact cleaner is only a short term solution, but the contact problems return sometimes worse.
