Taking Care Of Business by Randy Bachman of "Bachman Turner Overdrive" who hail from Canada and formed their group in the early 1970's. Randy Bachman was an ex-Guess Who member. The other members were Chad Allen (also an ex-Guess Who member) as well as Randy's brother Robbie and Fred Turner. They had a number of hit Albums and still tour to this day.

Here is Taking Care Of Business done using the Tyros sound engine. I used the Tyros' Overdrive Mega Guitar in certain places.

Btw, who IS that guy playing the Trombone?

Great MP3, thanks for posting! Did you do this sequence all by yourself? As a drummer I have one little remark about the drumsound: In this kind of line-up, a "fatter" snaredrum would be needed. Compared to the ridden semi-closed hi-hat and the bassdrum, the snare is now a little "thin" and maybe a tad too low in volume. Other than that: Good mix, well played!

Hey Keybplayer,

Here's GeneralMusic's version of that song:

TCB-by-BTO.mp3

I didn't change any of the guitar sounds. This is one song that I felt the standard Overdrive guitar sound works.

I wonder how they decide on what electric guitar voice to use? You know, do they mimic a Fender Strat with Darco strings thru humbucker pickups thru Boss effects and a Marshall head-amp, etc. (for you guitar experts...I made that combination up...I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to guitars) So many different guitar sounds....

I picked a different kind of instrument to play along with this song. You'll understand why I DON'T do this for a living nor do I aspire to. Strictly a hobby for me. But hey, I do a pretty mean Randy Neuman.

What I like about the Tyros sound (always have) is the dynamics and open-ness or seperation of the individual instruments. I think that is a by-product of good electronics, a good tone generator along with good amplification.

mike,

Thanks for posting your version on the WK-8. That Overdrive guitar you used is very convincing. And if that was you singing you have a very good voice to boot.

I posted the song to demonstrate once again a little of the Mega Voices on the Tyros.

Yamaha and I suppose all the other Keyboard companies that I know of still haven't gotten the Distortion guitars to sound like the real thing. The Mega voices are getting closer but I've found the regular Panel and XG Distortion/Overdrive guitars lose something especially in the higher notes. But I'm glad their getting better and I hope in a few years ALL the guitars on a Keyboard will sound authentic and truly realistic.

The Pa1X/PRO is suppose to have Mega voice quality without the glitches that can be experienced using Yamaha's Mega voices. Live use of the Tyros' Mega voices is too much of a gamble IMO. It would be embarrassing to try and play a riff, etc., and some of the notes won't sound or if they do they won't make the sound you want. If Yamaha comes out with Mega voices that can be played Live without the glitches Arranger Keyboardist's would beat down the doors to get one IMO.

And if Korg would have offered the Pa1X/PRO for about a Grand less people would flock to get them also. As it stands Korg is in an extremely niche market catering to the wealthy (which MOST musicians AREN'T!) and because of it I don't think the Pa1X/PRO will be a big seller. Unless they drastically reduce their price that is.

PS: Burkels it was a midi file that I revoiced and added a Mega Overdrive guitar in certain spots.

Also mike, your song I downloaded wasn't a complete take. Did you do that on purpose?

Best regards,
Mike

I plan to do an EXR-5 version of it later today, and I'll do some "revoicing" too since the midifile (yes I found it too :-) picks the standard (awful) distorted guitar on the Roland. I'll post the link when it's ready!
