In my opinion, the 2100 is not a consideration. It still doesn't have hard drive, and it still doesn't have the OS in RAM, so it can't be upgraded by software. The registrations still are harder to get to. The endings and intros variations still have only one button each, so must be manually selected each time you use the style, unless you resave the entire style to memory. The onboard memory is still insufficient. The keys are still very light in weight. There is still no video out. (I THINK the Tyros has this). I think the Tyros sounds far better than the 9000 or 2000. The drums are much more alive. The styles are better, even the ones that are basically the same have been redone to sound better, and there are a lot more styles on board, and a lot more space to for your own styles. The polyphony is much greater on the Tyros. The buttons are larger and light up. The display is larger and easier to see. Much more. On top of all this, the 2100 will most likely not be available in the U. S. much before 2004, if Yamaha follows their usual timetable. No 2100 for me. DonM

Hi Scott,
If at all possible, you should try to test all three machines using an amp with the same settings and not listen to the keyboard's internal speakers. Of course, the Tyros does not come with speakers, therefore, in order to hear the individual sounds, you'll need an amp or use the external speakers. Keep in mind that on this forum there have been lots of threads about the diffence in sound quality between speakers. However, if you're running the keyboard's output through an amp using the same, exact settings for each keyboard, you can then judge the sound quality of each based on what your audience will hear.
Essentially, all three are good machines. I've played the 9000 a couple times, the sounds and styles were excellent. I currently own a pair of 740s and 2000s and the sweet voices are beyond a doubt among the best. I have not had the opportunity to listen to the Tyros at this point, but I intend to do so sometime in the next two weeks. If it is as good as everyone on the forum claims, and $2000 bucks better than the PSR-2000, I'll replace my 740s and begin another learning curve. Sure hope my wife doesn't see those post--she'll kill me.
Cheers,
Gary
