Hi Dan, seem VERY interesting little recorder, I can think of many uses, like recorder for the songwriter (like scratch paper, so the idea is not forgotten), live recording for ANY type of performer/s, bands, trios, duets, soloist, a preacher recording his services, etc...the amazing part, not using a audio interface, PC, or a bigger digital recorders, of course, storage is limited, no editing, no multitracking BUT still a great tool and for the price, can not go wrong.....in most places you can get it for $149.00, not bad.

Could I use this to offload songs from, say a BR-532 digital 4-track and by-pass the SmartMedia card OR WHAT...

yes.... this will take any audio information sent to it and convert it to mp3 instantly ........
