Looking to get a keyboard amp for monitoring purposes in a band I'm joining, probably feed the band mix into a channel, then my keyboards into the others, to give my own mix. Another use would be for small gigs, like small cafes resteraunts and such.

saw a couple of Rolands, crates, Behringers,

Quality , sound, weight, useabilty, are major factors in my choice.

I'm sure most of you have had experiences in this field.

Thanks

I have a roland kc500. It's more expensive but worth the cost. It's about the same weigh as my Eon15 g2 but has casters. It has enough options and inputs for you to play around with. If you can't afford it, maybe go with a kc300 or something - same feature, but less powerful.

I was looking at those too. Haven't heard any of them but if there are enough people using a certain kind and have good things to say....,

Anybody use the Behringer? or Carvin

The Barbetta seems pretty cool,

Thanks

I love quirky off-mainstream equipment, so I have a Fender SFX200 Stereo Keyboard Amp which I use. It has 160 watts, full effects, microphone inputs. It has a 12" woofer, Piezo tweeter and another 10" woofer postioned to the Right!!!

This thing really projects Stereo Patches really well.

It works for me as it's relatively small with wheels.

Here's my thoughts:
The Roland KC500 is the only one I like in the kc series. The 300 and 100 have terrible bass response, but the 500 is heavy and awkward to carry. All three models have global eq only if that's important to you. I prefer a mixer that has EQ on each channel.

Barbetta's - same global eq deal, but MUCH lighter, and easier to tote.

Bheringher - this is a touchy area - my dealers all have trouble servicing these products. Samson and Bheringer both has bad track records in my area. The cheap mixers seem to be ok, but I'd avoid the amps.

Carvin - nice stuff, great features, not so powerful. Better suited for small to mid range levels, but really nice sound.

I think in a band situation, I'd use a small mixer and an EV Sxa100. Send your mix to the house right from the EV's output. Use the mixer to get the sound you want on stage.

I think I its down to

Barbetta Sona 23c
looks ugly and the controls are on the back, very light and has a speaker mount on the bottom which is great
$799 can get it for $629

Barbetta Sona 41c
same as above but a different set-up
$1099 can get it for $799

Yorkville 200KB
I can get the it for $425

With these prices it looks like the yorkvile will be the winner, is there ant=ything else that could be in that price range with that kind of quality?
not to heavy seems to be a decent quality
$699 I can get it for $429

Most working guys I talk to use JBL G2 Eons with 15" woofers. Each speaker is 300 Watts. Run your boards stereo through a small Bheringer mixer direct to two speakers and you have a nice stereo rig which is relatively portable and kicks Arse.

I've been thinking of going this route, once I come up with 1200.00 for the pair.
