Friends,

can anyone suggest what 8/12ch rackmount mixer I should get. Needs to take no more than 2 (max3) unit-space. It has to have basic features and 3band basic eq. This is to replace an old 8ch boss desk mixer.

Thanks for help.

You have very few choices in that area. Samson makes a 2 sp rack that has basic controls foe 8 channels. Most companies make line mixers, but they almost never have tone controls or monitor sends.
How many sources do you need to plug in and what type of control do you need?

The Behringer Eurorack Pro($99) has a monitor out and 8 channels but no tone controls.

Thanks Dave and Bernie for your answers.

Ok. Dave, basically I will need to plug stereo the TY, + a P90 piano + a rackmount synth + a guest (guitar/mic)input. This mixer will have a double use: submixer in band situation and main mixer at home.

I also had a look at Alesis which makes a 3U rackmount, but the price raises at approx. $450 here in Italy.

I had a look on the internet at both samson 2U, and at the Eurorack pro. Prices are interesting. Buying a separate 1U EQ module will not help equalize separatly at least four channels in your experience, will it?

Thanks for more comments.

Nope - a separate EQ is needed for each source. Korg made a 1U rack EQ years ago that was intended for 4 track recording and had 4 mono, 5 band EQ's and a stereo 7 band eq. Cool piece, but WAY discontinued.

You can get more mixer for the money in a table top model.
