Hey guys, I know I've been a little scarce around here but I've been pitching my songs quite actively lately. "Pitching" means sending out cassettes and CDs of one's original songs/music to various publishers/producers via insider information provided by "tip sheets" that I subscribe to, that tell me what artists/record companies are seeking what kind of material for upcoming music projects. And lo and behold, Sapphire Records (a small independent label based in Rancho Cucamonga, California) has accepted "Tell Me" (most all of you have heard it when I posted it here, I believe) for the final album slot in jazz singer Gwen Howard's upcoming CD debut! Although she sings primarily jazz, Ms. Howard wanted a few non-jazz songs with "crossover" potential (accessible to other market segments besides strictly jazz) that she would "jazz up" just slightly to still appeal to her primarily jazz-oriented audiences. I can only Thank God for the invention of arranger keyboards. In order to create demos (the completed songs that I send out)without these keyboards I would have had to spend thousands of dollars in studio fees, playing a variety of instruments one at a time, to create the products I am able to finish in just one afternoon in my own home with nothing more than a couple of Yamaha Arr/KBs and a Roland 8-track digital studio recorder, along with a cheapie $45 microphone (the digital recorder adds all the effects such as reverb, etc.). I'll keep you guys abreast of developments as they happen! ------------------ Regards and Aloha, Charlie http://artists2.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/Wong_Songs/index-1.html
