the sound quality of this new Audya looks be very impressive. cant wait to hear some good demos of it.

Ketron seems to be nonexistent in Sydney Australia i have never come across a music shop that sells it.

Hi Nick G
Here is the distributor for Australia, http://www.ketron.it/Partner/index.asp?idStato=2&ruolo=distributori just don’t expect to see the AUDYA yet, because as far as I am aware it has not yet been released anywhere in the world.
Hope this helps

Bill

Hi Nick,
I bought my SD1+ at Gospel Piano last year.
Hopefully now we've got a reliable source. I think Gospel only took over the distributership in the last couple of years or so.
I think Ketron's had a bit of an all over the place history here in Aust. so I never bothered buying one before.
I first met Warwick ( manager at Gospel ) when he used to be in charge of Technics keyboards in Sydney. Wait till you see the piano range. Awesome.

best wishes
Rikki

rikkisbears, how are the sounds on your Ketron?

Do SMF's sound great (drums in paricular) are there "dance" drums (electronica etc)

As everybody probably knows by now, I'm needing to upgrade (from my VA-7) this year.

76 keys is the main criteria (believe it or not), but I must say I was disappointed by the fact there is only 16 meg of Ram in the SD1 (and that is mono sampling only).

Still, it IS a contender, just haven't got one where I live (Australia - Brisbane).

Please be honest, does it "cut it" live sounds wise, and, in particular, in ease of use???

Hi Hellboy,
personally I'd wait & see what the Audya has to offer.
I luv the ketron drums. You can actually use "audio" drum loops in the styles & midifiles. The audio loops sync to style.

Ease of use, it's a bit of a learning curve, but quite frankly the VA7 wasn't a breeze either.

One thing I don't like about it , is ketrons don't have any type of event list editing for styles. You can alter sounds , velocities, mix n match patterns & style phrases etc etc but no event list editing, & I'm a bit of a style converting nut so that's a function I miss.

It does have Dance styles etc but it's not the type of style I use, so can't comment.

Really may be worth a trip down to Sydney when you get closer to choosing.

If you ever decide a ketron may be for you, check with me, I'm always swapping round my keyboards haa haa.

best wishes
Rikki
