And I have been for almost an hour, now. No, I haven't traded in my SD1... I'm very happy with it. But it's being souped up by AJ, and I needed another AK. So Donny, Eddie, Gary, and all you other 3000 guys, be prepared for some dumb questions, that is, as soon as I learn enough to ask some dumb questions.

BTW, my transaction with Donny went great... now if I can only get him to drive over to Ohio to show me how to work this thing.

Glenn. I went to a Tyros from a Ketron XD3 and loved it ...... for about a day.

I then thought I had made a great mistake and very nearly sold it again right away.

The mistake I made was wanting and trying to make it sound like the Ketron. They are just completely different. As others have accuratley said the ketron sounds like a punchy live band whereas the Tyros is more like a CD quality recorded orchestra.

I still think there is far too much reverb and other effects on some of the styles and I have therefore made copies of all styles on my hard drive with the effects adjusted and also other settings such as OTS.

I love to play both but I have only just now started to gig with just the Tyros now that there is a way to link the lyrics of a song to a registration.

I know you will enjoy your new board but don't make the mistake I did by wanting to make it sound too different....

That is great advice KFingers. It is even true within the Yamaha family of products. When upgrading from the 2K to the 3K I lost almost 4 months fiddling & tweaking styles, registrations, EQ, mic settings, etc., only to come to the conclusion the 3K was pretty well tuned from the get-go.

If you play out using external amp and speakers, that is how you want to listen to the 3k before tweaking. There is a big difference between what I hear from the onboard vs. externals, especially when I crank it up for live performance.
