Has anyone else had trouble?
I followed directions carefully. The Update Folder and UserPrg folders copied just fine to the keyboard.
When I try to copy the ROM style folder and the Put New Styles Here folder, they start copying, then find corrupt files and the operation stops.
I've tried re-downloading the file and George Kaye even emailed the files he successfully used. Same results. I even tried a different computer with the same results.

I also tried it using the External Card method as described on www.rolandkeyboardclub.com
Same thing.

Don,
If you have corrupted files, something goes wrong with downloading!
I don't know in what format you receive the download, but in case it is not zipped, some browsers add one bit to the file which causes problems, if it is a zip file , virusscanners sometimes damage the files...

Just a thought...

Thanks Fred,
I downloaded it from two different sites, both zipped. Then George emailed me the files that he had used with no problems. They all act the same way.
Beats me!

Oh yeah! All the factory styles are gone now, so I'll have to try reloading the old OS.

The instructions from Roland (you DID read the .pdf?) say nothing about updating from a Card (in fact, the instructions tell you specifically to take the card OUT before you update).

If you want to try a different method than Roland recommend, can't blame them when it doesn't work......

I recommend you back up your data (hopefully, as Roland suggest, you DID back up your data BEFORE the update) and if you don't have enough internal memory to do the backup, re-format your internal memory, do the update procedure EXACTLY as Roland tell you, and then re-load in your data. Should work (it worked for me).....

Updating from the Card can be done very well. I had no problems with it.
Maybe, DonM, you copied the whole folders to the card where it should be only that what is in the folder.

I have upgraded the system, but lost all the styles. I think the problem was lack of memory, even though I checked before starting.
I believe Wis was right, I copied the entire folders instead of the contents and now the available memory isn't large enough. The instructions didn't spell that out.
Roland does have instructions for updating from the external memory. I tried that only after having problems, and it worked fine, but had the same problems.
When I get time later today, I will have to re-format the internal memory and start over.
At least the OTS works right now!
Thanks for the help,
DonM

It wasn't easy, but I got it done, just in time to make it to the job.
The new OS is quite an improvement. You can now do OTS with User styles. The effects settings have been totally reworked and sound much better. The parts in the styles sound better.
I actually had to ADD reverb to the overall mix.
I didn't really have time to "retweak" the vocal settings, so I can make them better when I get time.
I recorded some of it. If it's any good, I'll post a couple when I get time.
I'm totally tired now, wrestling that beast in and out of the van.
