Dnj,

Do you prefer using a pair of SRM350+Roland KCW Sub VS a pair of SRM450 ?
I mean, for a medium/large party.

Just wondering...

Luis...I really can't answer your question until I have used the new setup on a few different kinds of jobs....but I will surly give my views after that. If you read Daves post above, there is a versatility issue here that I have to address to fit "MY" needs. We'll see soon.

Good choice, Donny... you'll be happy with your new setup, I'm sure. When I auditioned the 350s I was impressed with their sound... especially strong in mid and upper mid range, great for vocals. Have fun!

Side by side - flat response, the jbls sounded like they had a sock over the horn. The Mackie has a clear, smooth high end response and a nice, tight bass. Not boomy at all.

Donny is getting a pair of the Mackies and my Roland Sub. This gives him 3 great performance options with minimal change to his setup.

#1 - just the kb speakers with the sub for some low end ooomph. (house parties, cocktail hours)
#2 - PSR3k into the 2 Mackies - nice and simple! ( small to moderate parties )
#3 - Same as above but add the sub for larger dances that need that bass to fill the floor!

If I didn't have the Bose - this would be my new setup.

Are you comparing the Eon10G2 or Eon15G2s?
Could you use the PAS sub and if yes, how
does it compare to the Roland?

Well, I don't know about that but I do know that I enjoy goofing around with Photoshop. Imagine all the wacky ideas that went through my head when SemiLive asked about what you wear when performing.

Well, let's see...We know that DonM likes to sport a little leather now and then:

And for Donny, it's not always a question of what he wears, but what he DOESN'T wear:

But the real surprise is learning that Uncle Dave wants to be the first pirate OMB entertainer in Philly. Here we see him in the "puffy" shirt.

eon10G2s! The 15s are too large and weird shaped for Donny and myself. Hate the shape.

The Bose subs are NONpowered, so they cannot be compared in this equation. Donny needs a powered sub, and the Roland will do just great!

Dnj,

Why don't you consider the EV SXA360 instead of the SRM350?
They're more expensive and a little bigger in size, but the weight is about the same as the SRM350!! The main difference is that the EV SXA360 is 350/150W and the SRM350 is only 165/30W !!
That's a big difference! And SXA360s are 12"s, so maybe you could avoid carrying the subwoofer?!...

I understand your needs!

But I think the EVs SXA360 could be a good suggestion!

Donny,

I'm curious. With the powered speakers you consistently use, do you also use a mixer?

So with the powered speakers, sub-woofer, mixer, stands, etc... it sounds like a lot of equipment. Don't you subscribe to UD's minimalist views?

REgards,
Al
