When the 3100 shows up there will be more excitement then the Tyros 2.
I'm also seriously thinking of just going into debt and buying one, when it comes out.
It will be awesome.

Hi Donny. WAY-y-y-y too early to tell. Who knows, Yamaha could decide to just jump to a PSR4000 if/when they decide to finally add a better more responsive key action/build (albeit making the keyboard heavier, and displeasing people who were attracted to it for it ultra lightweight portability). - Scott

It is very likely they will use the keyboard action from Tyros 1...thus providing a marginally better key feel than the 3k, and also to allow for aftertouch,a feature already on the entry level synths.
It wouldn't add much weight and the R&D has been paid for and it has been tested already by T1 owners. Most if not all buyers of the 3k replacement would be happy with such a positive change.

Back to the key feel issue. Many more would be interested in the super articulation voices on the next model.

I would assume the cost of the new PSR3k model with a less featured Tyros 2 inside it would be a bit higher then the current 3k price of $1495.00 for sure.

If it follows the path of the 3k,SAVs will be on it,probably a few less than T2.Usually Yamaha Canada does a dealer product launch near the end of June.
Again,if it follows the 3k's lead,it will have features not on Tyros II,including newer styles and maybe even hardware(like the USB on the 3k).

I would imagine that the disadvantage of the 3100 / 4000, will be a lack of sampling, and audio recording. All other features would be the same.

Lightweight is a big plus for me as I travel very often and end up paying $210 for a return trip in overweight and oversize. If the key feel and the pitch and modulation wheels are a little more substantial on the successor to the 3000, I would probably get one - just for travel!
