Hello All,

I am currently using Kontakt Soft Sampler with Sonar and have quite a lot of custom drum kits and instruments created in Kontakt. I would like to transfer all these instruments to PA1X Pro that can read Akai S1000 format. Is there a way to convert Kontakt to Akai format?

I would really hate to convert all these manually within the keyboard ... if there is no way to convert Kontakt to Akai, is there a way to create Akai instruments using .WAV samples?

TIA

Chicken systems has a conversion program that can convert various sample formats.

Chickensys does NOT support the PA engine (AFAIK) at this time. That includes PA1X, the PA80, 60 nor 50.

It DOES support Korg Triton Classic and Studio formats (but not Extreme yet, again AFAIK) and does an OK job of converting AKAI formats to Korg .pcg.

The PA has a different synth engine than the Triton - 4 OSC vs 2, and different effect busses (Master and inserts). The PA1X can read Triton format .pcg files and convert (as can PA80, etc), but is makes an educated guess as to what does not map correctly. That's not to say that the conversions are bad. They are not, but you cannot convert combi's only programs, and they don't quite sound the same as the original.

I would recommend that to get the best sounding patches, you should load them all into the PA1X and save them in internal format. Let the PA do the conversion.
Regards,
Steve

Your best bet is to convert them all to Wav files then load in the PA1X-pro and build your kits there because even if you import Triton KMP or Akai S1000 your PA1X will not know they are drum kits.

Thanks guys. I have all the drum kit samples in .Wav already. I have been trying to create drum kits using these samples without any success so far in PA1X. The manual doesn't seem to explain how to create drum kits from importing external wav files. Anyone know how to do it?

All I want to do in the PC is to assign these .Wav files to different keys and some how import it in PA1X. Once I get these in PA1X, I can convert them to Drum kits and do all the tweaking in the board.
