Fran, you seriously need to get the G1000/G70 and a Tyros 2 together in the same room.. play a tune using your best sax on any of the rolands, and then play it on the T2 using an SA (Super Articulation) sax.

If you cannot notice a difference, then I sense some serious problems with your hearing, no offence.

You being a professional performer I assume you might have a good ear for detail, have a listen to some string sounds or acoustic nylon guitars on either of the boards...

Maybe you already have, maybe you have not... but if you have, then you would have to be the most bias person to roland I have ever heard of, judging by the comments and assumtions you make when you compare Roland to Yamaha...

Nick we have compared the sax from the three you mentioned already...even a SZ comparison that most thought the G1000 sax sounded better[a SMF was used for the test..]and the Roland's were not tweaked..Other 's tweaked the Tyros2 to include the best they could muster out of the Yamaha...The vast majority including Yamaha supporters agreed ..Matter of fact we used several sound sources and If I can recall the Tyros was sitting in 4th or 5th place of the test...You can search Dogget..

Since this test as you know I tested the G70, and one of the sounds that impressed me was the sax..I use the breathy sax anf EXp sax on the G1000..These are my favorite saxes with the exception of the new G70 sax I played..

sounds fair enough, I am keen to have a read of the comments made after those comparisons,

I have played the saxes on technics KN 7, Roland VA7 series and T2 and to my ears the T2 is up there with the KN7 on that note.

How about the Guitars and Symphonic string sounds?

The guitar mode in the Rolands is definitely impressive but still it is out of league compared to the T2... The Roland Guitars are more suited for accomp strumming not solo (like mega Voices). surely you would agree on this one.

Nick

I think the strenght of the Tyros2 is the guitars.

And it would also have to be one of the most important parts of a live band...

Bass and drums, and maybe the piano are the most important in a band

I think the guitar is more accent[color sound] , as the sax, organ etc..
