When my XP module eventually arrives , will it be able to read all the present and past Gem models formats ?
such as :-Genesys/PRO/SG-1
WK6/8 ,WK4 .WK2/3 ,WX2/WX400 ,WS2/WS400
I think the term is called "back format reading "

I know my Technics KN7000 keyboard can read the data from the older Technics models ,
If any one knows the answer it would be great to have this confirmed .

regards ..........Giovanni(Norwich Norfolk England)

Giovanni,
See that you're still waiting for the XP. Has your dealer given you any indication as to when you will see your XP. All remains a mystery stateside. I check the forums daily for hints, but alas ... nothing.
Ciao,
Jerry

Hello Giovanni,

The Genesys series is backwards compatible with the following past GEM products;

WK6/8
SK760/880
PS2600
PS2500

The WX2/3&4 as well as the WS and WX series were entirely different platforms so their files are not cross-compatible.

Of course songs created on any of these instruments are cross-compatible as long as the songs were saved in SMF format.

Best Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,
I was wondering if there is a downloadble manual on the xp, or would one of the other manuals like a Genesys manual give me the information on what style creation functions are available on the xp. ie I want to find out if list editing is a function, how styles are created etc etc.
My ex kn7000 was brilliant, my sd1+ is lacking some of the editing functions I require.

best wishes
Rikki

here is the link for the Geneys XP manual downloads.
http://www.generalmusic.com/html/prodotti.asp?cod=995207&frame=do

The manual is not as complete as the Genesys S manual which I think will work fine for advanced editing of the XP.

Jerry

Hi Rikki,

If referring to list editing you mean microscopic mode, yes the Genesys has this feature and it works quite well. You can choose to view all data within any given track or select only the data you wish to view, i.e. Note, Program Change, CC#’s, Aftertouch, etc.

The very same editing features that are found in the sequencer section of the Genesys are available when creating and editing styles. Here is a list of the editing screen headings;
Erase, Move, Copy, Quantize, Insert Measure, Delete Measure, Velocity Scaling, Transpose, Microscope and Mask. Most of these editing tools allow you to edit the entire track or all the way down to the beat/bar/clock and note number. In short, the sequencer editing tools in the Genesys is very similar in capabilities as a computer based sequencer.

Best Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,
thank you, I should have said event list editing, I suppose each manufacturer has their own terminology.
Microscopic, is the function I was after. Wow, what an amazing array of style editing options.
Thank you Dave.
