Here's yet another professional looking print to CD/DVD device option. This one utilizes a waterproof ink 'thermal transfer' process, takes 26 seconds, and will print to ANY blank CD/DVD. The only limitation is that you can only print in one color: black, red, blue, or green, but the results appear to look similar to the process used on most commercial audio CD's, and because I already own an ink jet PRINTER for all my other computer printing needs, purchasing a device specifically dedicated to CD/DVD printing seems like a good option. Anybody here own or have any experience with the Primera Signature Z1? Feedback appreciated.

Casio also has one for less than $100.00.
I ran out of cartridges, but it does the same type of job. It to will only print in one color, but has a variety of color cartridges on the website. Bob L.

I use the Signature IV by Primera and it's AWESOME. Makes 50 at a time - all automatic.

Uncle Dave, great to hear you're enjoying your Primera Signature IV. Unfortunately I can't find the Signature IV listed on Primera's website . Has the Signature IV been now REPLACED by another model? Which Primera unit is its replacement equivilent? Thanks.

The Z1 looks like a very slick unit to me. Good price, good PC mag review, and small footprint. Unless you're looking at large volume, this seems to be an option that would produce very professional looking results. I would obtain one with a liberal return option and make sure this one user's cons are not viable.

One user's review:

"I've used my Z1 for about 2 dozen disks so far. PROS: 1. Software easy to use. 2. Allows curved printing on two of the four print areas CONS: 1. Doesn't print clearly on typical silver disks with grainy, rough texture on the label side, especially if you are trying to print the song list for a full music CD in a small font. 2. Doesn't help you line up your text with the manufacturer's printing on the disk. 3. Disks hard to remove from unit after printing. 4. Hard to find plain white disks"

At $1,700 for the printer, plus all the supplies, you have to sell a heck of a lot of CDs to get close to the break-even mark! Not for me--I'll stick with BJ's High Gloss Labels and my regular high-resolution printer. 1,000 CDs and not a single lable failure.

I can't play CDs that have a stick on lable in my car, and the heat from the player sometimes makes the lable wrinkle ..... I'd advise against the paper for sale items.

Scott - I bought the model IV twice in the last 2 years, but I don't know if it's still current. It's kind of heavy duty though ..... and requires a PC to run it.
