OK, In spite of all the recommendations here that I should save up a few more dollars for the PSR3000, or instead go with the Korg PA50 with it's better sounds, I've instead picked up a PSR1500 from eBay.

I had a PSR2000 a year ago, when I started lurking here at the General Arranger Keyboard Forum, but had to sell it when I needed some cash. But I missed the keyboard and finally decided to fill that empty void. Being familiar with how the PSR arrangers work, and not quite having enough money for the PSR3000 (and not wanting to wait any longer!) I took the plunge.

I've decided that PSR1500 owners should stop living in the shadow of their bigger brothers (3000, Tyros) and stand to be counted! The 1500 is a great keyboard -- maybe not all the polyphony, Sweet/Cool voices, and vocal processing of the other guys, but still a great instrument. Come on, there's gotta be some other PSR1500 owners out there. I know the 1500 hasn't been a great seller for Yamaha, but I'm sure I'm not the only person who couldn't afford a 3000. Anybody else want to 'fess up?? Maybe I'll start a "PSR1500 Owners Anonymous" group.

Wow! I think Yamaha shot themselves in the foot here, and they're at fault for the PSR-1500 having such poor sales here.

Yammie really dropped the ball when they discontinued the PSR-550 without releasing a newer version. It used to be that the GAP between the models wasn't so big. At one point it was the PSR-550, and the one above at the time was the PSR-1000. It was a worthy upgrade from the 550. Now there's no in between here. Below the PSR-1500 is the PSR-450 which is nothing more than a glorified PSR-350. The PSR-450 sells for $499, and the PSR-1500 sells for nearly $1,000! That's a BIG price gap between models. I remember when the PSR-550 was still being made there were a number of PSR-1000's and 1100's out there.

I have PSR1500 ! ...about7 month now.
This is my first kb!! I am actually accordion and guitar player.In february this year I decide to buy some kb. Start to surf trough the internet,and one month later after many slepless night,and reading manual,I choose KorgPA and PSR. Go to store try both and winner is PSR1500! Why?, easy to operate,then KORG.
And between PSR1500 and 3000 I found no big difference(I don't use harmony vocalise,and almost every style and voice from 3000 work on little brother) and when you spend little more time on tweak ,sounds professional!!
Only irritant thing for me is bad key feelin'

I think that I'm in advantage here,because,as I say,this is my first kb.,and I'm not try to find KORG,ROLAND,YAMAHA...in every Kb.!(when I start search,I don't know NOTHING about kb.)

One more thing is,that I play live on stage(evenings jobs,weddings...)after 2 month practicle! O.K. I have good base on accordion,but I think that easy of use my kb. ,is playin' big thing for my sucess

I played a PSR1500 just a little bit and in the little time I did play it, it struck me that it sounded like the PSR2000. What do you think?

I could have easily chosen the PSR1500 to play out with. It sounded so much like the PSR2000 to me. I loved the 2000 and audiences liked it too.

Yeah, it does sound alot like the PSR2000, as far as I can remember. Including the bothersome "warble" in the accoustic piano sample in the octave below middle C that used to drive me nuts! You would have thought Yamaha could do a better job finding a decent loop point on that sample!

But I *do* enjoy the enhancements over the 2000 -- the SmartMedia card is *so much* nicer that trying to keep track of a zillion floppies.

Come on, there's gotta be more PSR1500 owners out there. I need at least three guys before I can ask Nigel to setup our own Yamaha PSR1500 Arranger Forum
