The slang of numbers used naming keyboards is peculiar.

Ronald uses units (VA3, 5, 7)
Korg uses tens (PA60, 80)
Technics thousands (KN2600, 7000)

But... Yamaha uses everything!!!!: units, tens, hundreds, thousands... and "no numbers" (as Tyros).

Is it only marketing? Does a XXX-2000 kb would seem better than a XXX-2?

I think a PSR2100 and KN7000 sounds better then single or tens digit and a single name like Tyros is even more modern. Intel went this route also: 286,386,486 then Pentium. Great marketing by Yamaha not to over use the single name scheme.

PSR tells me it's a "home" keyboard, hence the US stigma that arrangers are toys. I think Roland and Korg have the better idea and keep things simple. To my ears, a VA-7 sounds aa lot better than A PSR550 or even a Tyros. No names for me, give me a simple, but expressive moniker like AR76.

I just bought a Korg PA-80. As far as i know, the only other korg pa, is the pa-60. I feel like i have the greatest keyboard made by korg! I also have a Yam. PSR-2100. Its a good keyboard, but maaan it sounds like it sux by the name! They've come out with Psr-9000 and all i've got it a 2100! I think for every keyboard, the companies should change the letter preceding the numbers, that way, no matter what the numbers are, YOU FEEL LIKE YOU GOT THE BEST ONE!
